WELL according to hapgood “she had wonderful brown hair, shaded with threads of gold”, (according to denny she had “soft chestnut hair [chestnut being 10x more accurate] flecked with gold”; in both cases I interpret the gold as being highlights) and according to hugo “c’étaient d’admirables cheveux châtains nuancés de veines dorées”, the principle word being “châtains” which is “une couleur située entre le blond et le brun” and apparently looks like this
